Sample Work

Below are various projects I have completed throughout my career at UCF. A few are from internships, but, most come from classes I have taken. I have included works that are far different from how I would write them today. It is fun to see how much my writing has changed over the years.

Communications Approach to Corporate Social Responsibility

My favorite class to date. I was taught what Corporate Social Responsibility means and how it is important for every organization to acknowledge and act upon. Taking care of people and the planet while still turning a profit will be a number one priority for me in my future endeavors. For our final project, we were put into groups and assigned to research and propose ways in which the company of our choice can improve its CSR efforts. My group chose Lucky's Market, below is the final paper and commercial produced. While the paper was a group effort, I was assigned to write the "People" portion. I also did the editing of the video.

Final Paper

Advertising Copywriting

I learned about the different advertising mediums and how to tailor messaging and delivery to appeal to the target audience. Our project throughout the semester was to create a campaign to get people to consider adding oysters to their regular diet.

Social Media as Mass Communications

This course introduced me to the core principles and best practices when it comes to social media. I found many of the projects enjoyable although I do not see myself seeking a long-term career as a social media strategist. I was tasked with creating an infographic and developing a white paper, both can be found below. It was through this course that I received my certification in Hootsuite. For our final project, we were tasked with creating a social media campaign proposal. I chose to do mine on UCF's chapter of United Faculty Florida.

Rhetoric of Pop Culture

Every semester is different when it comes to this course. I took the class fall of 2017, the topic was food. We analyzed how food varies from place to place and what food critics consider when writing their reviews. A group project in this class was to come up with a type of food and come up with a commercial that would appeal to the target audience, my group chose a vegan ice cream called Date Night, watch the video below.

Writing for Public Relations

Perhaps the most valuable course I have taken at UCF. Writing for PR taught me how to use the AP Stylebook and keep my writing clear and concise. Below are several projects from the course including our final, a full press kit.

Rhetoric and Civic Engagement Project

The objective of this assignment was to become involved with an organization that works towards resolving a civic issue and to find a way to do so through the use of rhetoric. For my civic issue, I addressed the unconstitutionality of the Free Speech Zones on UCF's campus (see Project Proposal below). I found the biggest problem the organization I was working with faced was that they were relatively unknown to a majority of the student population (see Analysis Paper below). At a university as big as UCF it is difficult to reach such a large audience so my plan was to have to organizations work together along with a local student journalism organization. They would share the blog post that can be found under my blog tab and hang posters similar to the one posted to the right all around campus in order to raise awareness of the issue (see Plan of Action below).

World Religions Project

Fall of 2015 I was tasked with visiting a place of worship that was not of my own religion. Having been learning about the multitude of religions I took much interest in learning more about Hinduism. My godmother is Hindu and so I had some knowledge in how they worship but to go and experience it for myself was something that I will likely never forget.

Intro to Advertising Project

My first semester at UCF I was enrolled in Intro to Advertising with Professor Joan McCain, her class along with my Intro to Public Relations class, taught by Professor Lindsay Hudock, changed my life. I developed a passion for advertising and public relations. For this particular assignment, we were asked to create a print ad for a new Purina product called Slim Kitty. This is my first attempt at creating an effective advertisement.
